Cork born songwriter, Niall Connolly has released five studio albums to date and his held in extremely high esteem by his peers on both sides of the Atlantic.

 

Originally from Manchester England, singer songwriter Warren Malone loves to sing, write songs and play guitar, and he loves traditional folk music as much as he loves a good pop song. His new album "And The Ants Ate The Bee" is available on iTunes. 

 

Based out of Brooklyn NY, Magic Bones (Brandon Wilde & Len Monachello) playing songs ranging from the 50's to the present like a human juke box. Their unique blend of sound & energy is not to be missed.

Gary Russo can normally be found alongside his fellow ironworkers building a subway station on Manhattan's East Side. But amid all the usual hustle and bustle, the foreman from Iron Workers Local 40 serenades the city.

From Frank Sinatra to Neil Diamond, Russo sings it all, although Frank's baby blues never peered out from under a hard hat.

Every lunch break, Russo has transformed the edge of the construction site into his own personal stage and now he and friends will be performing at Thai Rock.http://www.thairock.us

Stained Glass Artwork Unveiled

It is with great pleasure that I thank Anne Hourigan for creating the very first art work I ever commissioned, a beautiful stained glass now prominently displayed at Thai Rock.  This was over a year in the making and installed with help from Master stained glass artist Patrick Clark and framed by Frank and Mason Poretto

I am both moved and honored by the experience I am about to share with you.  Provoked by my wife to find a way to give our staff a break on our anniversary and rejoice together for making it through our first year and now getting prepared for our 2nd summer, we held an anniversary party last Sunday honoring our staff.  I set out to bring in outside food so that the Thai Rock family could take an afternoon off together.  With so many great restaurants and dining options available here in the Rockaway’s it was impossible for me to choose just one, so instead, I reached out to every restaurant and, for that afternoon, Thai Rock became the quintessential taste of the Rockaway’s with specialties provided from many of the local food purveyors. 

 

This was a very special day for us and the culmination of a lot of work, worry and commitment.  Opening a restaurant is a unique and singular experience, for me, compounded with the pressures of a dependent family for their well being.  This community has given me a greater sense of purpose, belonging and family than I ever could have imagined or expected.  I understand, in a much more profound way, what Mayor Ed Koch meant when he called the Rockaways “the Jewel of New York”, he meant you, all of you the folks here that make this place a community.  The people that support and help one another, that eat together, that swim together, that rally together, our children that grow up together and all the people that help raise our kids.  I was not born nor raised here, but my heart has grown fond of this place and I feel more a part of this community than any other I have ever lived in.  Thank you for accepting and embracing us, we feel it, we relish it and we will continue to do our best for the community.
